Atavism X (10.4.0) – Date of release 29.06.2021

New Features

  • Atavism Client: Added support for Addressable Assets with GetAddressableModel component created and contributed by @Dhoren.
  • Atavism Editor (Unity): Modified Editor so it could load database credentials directly from the project profile saved by the Atavism Standalone Editor.
  • Ataivsm Standalone Editor: Added feature to not only add related entries on demand but also edit them.
  • Instances: Added the option to invite other players to join your private instance, and show them what you have built.
    PRIVATE_INVITE_TIMEOUT – Defines how long the invitation will be valid – Integer – Default: 60 seconds
  • Navmesh Pathfinding: Added option to use voxelized map representation on the server to generate navmesh in realtime with additional objects. If the Atavism server won’t find the new file, it will try to load the old static navmesh graph, and if it won’t be found, then not pathfinding will be used at all. There is DYNAMIC_NAVMESH_UPDATED_INTERVAL – Defines how often the navmesh based on voxelized map and buildings will be recalculated – Integer – Default: 1000 milliseconds. Also for future troubleshooting, we added the DYNAMIC_NAVMESH_UPDATE_SAVE parameter that defines if every generated navmesh on the server should be saved in a separate file so you could visualize it in the Recast4j Demo application – Boolean – Default: false

  • Navmesh Pathfinding: Added option to save building colliders on the server and based on that generate a voxelized representation for them to be used for dynamic navmesh. Right now handled colliders are box, sphere, and capsule.

  • World Builder: Added tax system with definable price and number of days, the option to automatically charge player if the amount on the owner character is available. We added two more parameters through which you can control your tax system:
    • USE_TAX_SYSTEM – Defines if the tax system should be used. – Boolean – Default: true
    • AUTO_PAY_TAX_SYSTEM – Defines if the tax should be automatically paid or not. – Boolean – Default: true
  • World Builder: Added the option to define interstage prefabs for building progress percentages to present it for as many stages as needed.

  • World Builder: Added the option to upgrade claim land with more area, so you can have a claim with size 10×10 and some tax and building limits, and then level 2 can increase the size to the value of your choice, like 10×15, with higher tax rate and higher building limits like more available floors, doors, walls, etc.

  • World Builder: Added the option so other players could help with the building process.
  • World Builder: Added the option to attack, repair (using resources and time or only time), destroy, and loot (based on a loot table) the destroyed building. On destroy, there should be an option to define the % min and a max of items to loot as well as optionally loot table There are two new parameters that let you adjust it to your needs:
    • BUILDING_CORPSE_LOOT_DURATION – Defines how long the loot will remain don’t he ground after the building will be destroyed – Integer – Default: 60 seconds
    • BUILDING_CORPSE_MOB_TEMPLATE – Defines mob template id that will be presented as the loot item after the building will be destroyed – Integer – Default: 10009
       
  • World Builder: Added the option to present health for a building.
  • World Builder: Added the option to visualize the building time on the building object.
  • World Builder: Added the option to let the player build the first stage also without player presence.
  • World Builder: Added the option to define building Effect like a warehouse for each stage rather than only for the last stage, to let’s say upgrade the storage limit with building upgrade.

  • World Builder: Added the option to build buildings anywhere in the world or the instance (there should be a parameter for this) (won’t be part of this release as it would require changing the whole permissions logic from per plot/claim to per object).
  • World Builder: Added the Easy Build System (EBS – https://assetstore.unity.com/packages/templates/systems/easy-build-system-v5-3-45394) system for World Builder.

  • World Builder: Added a statistic that affects building speed.
  • World Builder: Added the option to define damaged effects for buildings for defined percentage for as many damage ranges as needed.
  • World Builder: Added the option to dynamically define claim types like a farm, residential, and define that group or multiple groups per building object.
  • World Builder: Added Aquarius Max building models to present building features out of the box.
  • World Builder: Added the option to define a maximum number of item categories per claim and its level, like a number of floors, walls, etc.
  • World Builder/Navmesh Pathfinding: Added dynamic navmesh for world builder objects, so mobs could use them for pathfinding.

Changes to existing features

  • Client: Opened the last client AtavismCore.dll library, so 100% of the client-side source code is now available for all Atavism license owners.
  • Client: Updated Nature Manufacture models and removed most of the watermarked textures for models as well as updated and unified shaders including Trees, grass, terrain textures, river and ocean
  • Client: Updated Hendrik Haupt Enviro Sky and Weather to the newest Asset Store Lite version.
  • Client: Modified code to work with Unity 2020.x and 2021.x.
  • Effects: Modified DoTs effect stacking system. Now when the effect is stacking by power then after the effect will be applied the time will be reset to its full DoT time.
  • Integrations: Simplified integration with World Streamer 2, and now it’s as simple as ticking one checkbox in the Atavism Unity Editor.
  • Navmesh Pathfinding: Modified A* Pathfinding to generate and save a voxelized map to a file used by the server.
  • Server: Updated Log4j2 to the newest 2.14.1 version.
  • Server: Updated MySQL Connector to the 8.0.24 version.
  • World Builder: Modified materials handling for world builder objects to define an unlimited number of items per object.

Fixes

  • Abilities: Fixed issue where for abilities that were Friend Not-Self didn’t check range.
  • Abilities: Fixed issue where for ability with target type group, caster got effect every time the chunk was checked.
  • Atavism Standalone Editor: Fixed issue where for abilities options weren’t narrowed.
  • Atavism Standalone Editor: Fixed issue where Effect Trigger didn’t write/read actions properly.
  • Atavism Standalone Editor: Fixed issue for item effects where CreateClaim wasn’t validated properly.
  • Atavism Standalone Editor: Fixed issue where if coord effect was added on-demand from the ability module, then it wasn’t saved properly.
  • Atavism Standalone Editor: Fixed issue where the context menu wasn’t reset properly after the module tab was closed.
  • Atavism Standalone Editor: Fixed “show more” for lists inside filters.
  • Combat: Added missing stealth game setting parameters:
    • USE_ABILITY_STEALTH_REDUCTION – Defines how many points ability should reduce the Stealth statistic when it will be used – Integer – Default: 0
    • USE_ABILITY_STEALTH_REDUCTION_PERCENTAGE – Defines the percentage of how ability should reduce the Stealth statistic when it will be used – Float – Default: 0
    • USE_ABILITY_STEALTH_REDUCTION_TIMEOUT – Defines the time after which the stealth statistic will be restored when ability with stealth reduction will be used – Integer – Default: 60
  • Combat: Fixed issue where PVP_DAMAGE_REDUCTION_PERCENT and PVP_DAMAGE_REDUCTION_USE weren’t taken into account for dot and flat damage calculations.
  • Combat: Fixed issue with cooldown references caused that the start of the cooldown by the second player was reduced by the time differences from the start by the first player.
  • Crafting System: Fixed issue with date of updated recipes.
  • Crafting System: Fixed issue where crafting with option must match layout didn’t work.
  • Dialogues: Fixed issue with incorrect editor option choice QuestProgress value for dialogue action.
  • Dialogues: Fixed issue where faction stance for dialogues was incorrectly checked.
  • Dialogues: Fixed issue where merchant action for dialogue wasn’t handling purchasing items from players.
  • Effects: Fixed issue with DoT effects that were pulsing one time fewer.

  • Effects: Fixed issue with shield effect where calculated absorption was higher than the calculated damage.
  • Effects: Fixed exception where trigger profile caused an exception when it was triggered on both caster and the target simultaneously.
  • Guilds: Fixed issue where one of the middle guild ranks was removed.
  • Interactive Objects: Fixed issue with an interactive object where interruption didn’t cancel coord effect nor interaction bar.
  • Mobs: Fixed issue where after server restart patrol paths were on the list but mobs didn’t use them.
  • Player Shops: Fixed issue where player shop didn’t appear after server restart and after the shop was closed items weren’t sent to the player via email.
  • Player Shops: Fixed issue where sometimes shop model remained in the world.
  • Player Shops: Fixed issue with player shops where timestamp was taking timezone into account. Now instead of timestamp time is saved as bigint.
  • Player Shops: Fixed issue where in some cases player shops didn’t show item icons.
  • Player Shops: Fixed issue where player shop triggered exception when ‘ character was used for the shop description.
  • Prefab Server: Fixed issue with Prefab Server where it was on a higher load and if clients were waiting too long for data they were disconnected. Added PREFAB_LOAD_ELEMENT_LIMIT parameter to define how many items information will be sent with each batch.
  • Resource Nodes: Fixed issue where resource node was locked as busy after player started to harvest it and logged out or closed the game client.
  • Scripts: Fixed issue with Atavism3rdPersonInput component where Min Pitch parameter didn’t work.
  • Scripts: Fixed issue where the player was mounted then SendMessage despawn has no receiver exception was generated.
  • Scripts: Fixed issue with AtavismMecanimMobController3d that in some cases couldn’t find Animator component.
  • Server: Fixed issue where mails weren’t presented if World Streamer integration was used.
  • Server: Fixed issue where with two or more world manager servers loot didn’t work.
  • Server: Fixed issue where with two or more world manager servers traps didn’t work.
  • Server: Remove incorrect values for stats onThreshold5 with value effect:0 as it was causing an issue in the Atavism Editor when trying to expand accordion for Stat with that entry.
  • Server: Fixed issue where spirit effect set in the game settings wasn’t triggered when the player entered spirit mode.
  • Server: Added missing #ms.setRestrictionLevel(5) parameter in the auth_server.py to put the server into maintenance mode where players with a specific group can log in and enter the world.
  • Statistics: Fixed issue with incorrect damage function assigned to the damage dealt stat.
  • Talents: Fixed issue where for talent points instead of USE_TALENT_PURCHASE_POINTS was used incorrectly USE_SKILL_PURCHASE_POINTS.
  • UI: Fixed issue with UGUITargetPortraitEditor that caused it impossible to drag an object from the scene.
  • UI: Fixed issue where effects weren’t displayed on group members.
  • UI: Fixed issue where if resource panel for the guild was opened and whole guild window was closed then item handled wasn’t cleared properly and items used from backpack were taken as resources for guild leveling.
  • World Builder: Fixed issue where admin couldn’t use create claim functionality for world builder.

Known issues

  • You can log in to an account multiple times and login multiple characters if you will only stop on the character selection screen and then you will log in again in another copy of the game.
  • In arena 1 vs 1, if one person will restart the game and log in again, the second player will be dropped from the arena as a winner, the other logged character will be “stuck” in the instance of the arena, but there will be no longer treated as a typical arena.
  • When in crafting definition there is no “Must Match Layout” option checked and for example, the same material is used for two slots with the same count, then if that material will be added into the crafting grid in one slot it will show the result item and craft button available, but the server will response that there are no sufficient items. It’s related to that server is checking requirements for an item in each slot for the recipe and if that amount is in the crafting grid.
  • When an item reward and in item choice reward are the same then the item count for that item is overridden.

Fresh installation of Atavism X (10.4.0)

In order to install Atavism you can choose one of three types of installation:

1. Using premade Virtual Machine which is Atavism ready environment by following the Atavism Virtual Machine Installation process.

2. Using detailed instruction on what environment requirements should be met in order to install Atavism on your dedicated server.

3. Using the installation tutorial with our new Atavism Windows Manager for Windows Environment.

Then you should adjust your Unity project to work best with Atavism

If you are going to use UMA in your project you can follow UMA installation step by step.

it is also recommended to refresh lighting and Asset Bundles because both are related to a specific Unity version. In order to rebuild your Asset Bundles (Bomber Bug is using them), you should head into the top menu in Unity Editor and chose Assets->Atavism Build AssetBundles (it will rebuild your asset bundles and then you should navigate to your project directory and copy file infinitypbr from project_directoryAssetBundles to project_directoryAssetsStreamingAssets.

 

Updating to Atavism X (10.4.0)

Updating from Atavism X (10.3.0) to Atavism X (10.4.0) is moderately complicated due to many changes in both server and client-side.

It is highly recommended you create a backup of both your server, client, and databases before proceeding in case something goes wrong during the process.

Update using our Virtual Machine Installation

Step 1: Log in to your Virtual Machine using Winscp client and remove the atavism_server*.zip file first and then the atavism_server directory completely

Step 2: Follow instructions like you would do the first installation but with the option Update Current Atavism depending on your installation (Core or with Demo Data). Open address in a web browser http://server_IP/atavism/installation/install.php

Warning: Make a Unity project backup. Importing the prefabs may break any customizations you had previously made to Your ones.

Step 3: Import Atavism Unity Package, Replace Files

Import the AtavismUnity_10.4.0_Patch_10.3.0_for_{Core|Demo}_Auto.unitypackage depending on which installation you did before.

Step 4: Update the UI Canvas

This procedure depends on how you modified your canvas. If it’s default then just open the AtavismBlankMainWorld scene and replace all components within your world scene, and repeat this procedure for the CharacterSelection scene.

Step 5: Open Unity Editor and from the top menu select Atavism Migration to X.4

Step 6: Open Unity Editor and from the top menu select Atavism Unity Setup

Warning: This will replace your layer number 11 with the name Socket (for EBS integration) as well as your scenes in the build settings will be replaced as well with the default ones, so if you are using your own scenes, then you will have to add them in the Build Settings.

 

Update using Custom Linux Installation

Step 1: Replace Server Files

Copy over all server files and adjust them as you did before with the previous Atavism version. Because server-side scripts and configuration files were changed, we recommend you to put a fresh copy of Atavism 10.4.0 server files.

Step 2: Update the Databases

Important note: Each time you are updating your database or files make a backup to have a copy of your work

Scripts to update your Atavism X (10.3.0) databases to Atavism X (10.4.0) are in your Atavism Server package. There are two types of scripts, structure, and data for both types of installations (Core and with Demo Data), you should use the proper ones depending on your previous installation method. In order to update the database, first, you have to update the structure, then the data. The script file for structure update :

  • sql/updates/From_Atavism10.2.1/{Core|Demo}/Structure/admin.sql
  • sql/updates/From_Atavism10.2.1/{Core|Demo}/Structure/master.sql
  • sql/updates/From_Atavism10.2.1/{Core|Demo}/Structure/world_content.sql

and script files for data update :

  • sql/updates/From_Atavism10.2.1/{Core|Demo}/Data/admin.sql
  • sql/updates/From_Atavism10.2.1/{Core|Demo}/Data/world_content.sql

If you have renamed any of your databases from the default names (admin, atavism, master, world_content) make sure you have proper names in the “use” clause at the beginning of each script.

Step 3: Import Atavism Unity Package, Replace Files

Import the AtavismUnity_10.4.0_Patch_10.3.0_for_{Core|Demo}_Auto.unitypackage depending on which installation you did before. It is recommended to replace all files as almost all were changed in some way.

Update using Atavism Windows Manager Installation

Step 1: Open the directory where you installed Atavism Manager (by default in c:\Atavism Manager)

Step 2: Rename atavism_server directory to atavism_server_old or any other name

Step 3: Download the Atavism server zip file from apanel

Step 4: Unpack the atavism_server*.zip file into your Atavism Manager installation directory

Step 5: Open command line console Windows + r shortcut and type cmd

Step 6: Change directory to your Atavism Manager installation directory by typing the command

cd “c:\Atavism Manager\mariadb-5.5.61-win32\bin”

and start the database if it’s not started yet by invoking the command

mysqld

Step 7: Invoke database update commands where the root is the database user, the test is the password for the database user, following with by the path to the Atavism Manager installation directory. If you are not using our default databases, please adjust these commands.
